Historical Informative:

Here is a brief article on the History of Holistic Biological Dentistry.
Holistic biological dentists help prevent disease by helping patients to maintain overall health and wellness.  Diagnostic tests, recommendations for  dietary supplements, homeopathic products have been at the forefront of organic biological dentistry for decades.

Replacement of mercury amalgam fillings are of obvious concern given the EPA’s regulatory stance on exposure to mercury levels are governed by them.

Holistic biological dentistry has historical roots to Weston A. Price, D.D.S. (1870-1949) Dr. Price  maintained that sugar causes not only tooth decay but physical, mental, moral, and social decay as well. This is paramount in pediatrics given the longevity and growth dependence our oral health is in our youth. Price toured primitive areas and examined the natives. The primitive area inhabitants had short life spans, high rates of infant mortality, endemic diseases, and malnutrition.

Weston A. Price Foundation based in Washington, D.C., is a membership organization founded to promote Price’s principles. Founded in 1999, it advocates holistic dentistry, organic farming, raw (unpasteurized) milk, and many organic  dietary strategies. It also opposes fluoridation.

The Holistic Dental Association founded in 1978 to provide a forum for developing and sharing of  health-promoting therapies.

The American Academy of Biological Dentistry (IABD) was formed in 1985 and was renamed the International Academy of Biological Dentistry and Medicine (IABDM) in 2005. IABDM’s founding mission statement says: “The IABDM supports dentists, physicians and allied practitioners committed to integrating body, mind, spirit and mouth, and caring for the whole person.” Its seminars have promoted “mercury-free dentistry,” “detoxification, “cavitation surgery,” electromagnetics, sound, light, acupuncture, homeopathy, herbal therapy, nutrition, and “an integrated approach to body, mind and spirit, with diagnosis and treatment of the whole person”. In September 2005, its online directory included 55 dentists and 6 members from other professions. Fourteen of the dentists also belong to the Holistic Dental Association.

Society is demanding better quality product & service from the dental industry. Organic and natural based treatments are helping to reverse the toxicity from years of neglect with poor eating habits, poor quality nutritional habits and many other detrimental elements.

The dental industry must now start abiding by the mandates of the law requiring “informed consent” to their patients. This comes after years of adverse material treatment and societal under education.

Times are changing and the demands from our culture to provide more healthy alternatives to old caustic historic practices.

You will find our Holistic Biological Dental practice a “Breath of Fresh Air” that your body will love.
