Material Compatibility

We use two types of tests for the optimal choice of a material to be used for your restorative needs.
1) Blood testing—Clifford Consulting or Peak Performance

More than 70 metallic and organic chemical families are used as the active challenges. Reactions to each family are semi-quantified and reported in the basic reactions (PINK) SECTION OF THE REPORT. This information may be useful in determining (1) currency of exposure to the target family, (b) strength and quality of exposures, (3) possible onset of tolerance to the indicated family and (4) assessment of possible adverse actions with the components of unlisted products.

Basic test findings are compared with a computerized database of commercial dental products to determine if any reactive families might be found in ionizable, dis-sociable or volatilizable forms in any of the products. Correlations result in products being suggested as not well suited or as a potential risk for the specific patient being tested. Products showing no correlation or contraindications are identified as those which may be safest to chose from for the patient.

Patients tested longitudinally may have altered findings over periods of time. Antibody titers can fall below detection limits without sustained challenge, and some challenges may no longer elicit a lab response. If reactivity with a chemical family is seen at any point, subsequent use of materials containing that chemical family due to loss of lab reaction should be done very cautiously, if at all. Secondary immune responses can be rapid and sometimes severe with new exposure.

Patients can develop new reactivities over time. Testing reflects detectable antibody presence at the point of testing, but cannot forecast future de-novo reactions.

Patients with compromised immune systems or who lack substantive recent exposures to some substances reactive for the patient may not have sufficient antibody titers to be detected in laboratory. Findings for such patients may not reflect all potential problems. Test results apply to patient tested, and can be radically different for other patients. Extrapolating suitability of products for others based upon this report is both dangerous and unwarranted.

Final selection of products for a patient will need to consider factors such as mechanical performance, aesthetics and possible adverse actions between two otherwise suitable products when combined in the same mouth. Suggestion of biological suitability is not the only matter in determining what will be used. A product may need to be used regardless of potential reactivity due to limitations of available products for the specific need. Final selection of products must bring professional judgment to bear and thus remains a matter between the professional and patient.

2) Resonance Testing: Done by a local physician.
Here materials are evaluated based on the resonant harmony with your body. This test might be with Electro acupuncture according to Voll (EAV) or muscle testing (Applied Kinesiology or AK)

Through Transmission Sonography (TTS) aka Cavitat

Jaw Muscle Dysfunction

This test employs the use of Electromyography to aid in the determining muscle recruitment and symmetry of function.

Jaw Tracking:
By being able to see the movement of the mandible, 5 dimensionally, through aural, time and spatial dimensions, more specific pathology is identifiable so that appropriate decisions can be made as to how best to treat the dysfunction within your stomatognathic system. For further information see TMJ Problems

Laser Fluorescence Microdentistry Caries Detection

Through the use of light a small bright Helium Neon beam is shined on the surface of the tooth. The tooth, when healthy, readily reflects the light back via a companion sensor cable adjacent to the light source. The signal is strong and unimpeded. If there is decalcification, the light is partially absorbed and not as much reflects back into the sensor cable. The microprocessor interprets this as “decalcification” of the tooth structure.

Biopsy Services

Toxicity Studies has already been covered above.

Histopathologic Evaluation: an example of a typical laboratory report is shown here.

The following test is from a sophisticated blood test measuring coagulopathies.  To see further information go to www.hemex.com

This test results indicate a blood coagulation defect. If this is left untreated during the time of the procedure, the outcome will be compromised and not as assured as it might have been.

Oral Cancer Screening

Aside from the visual examination you receive at the initial examination we now offer the most up-to-date oral cancer detection procedure available. It is the VisiLite. By using special dyes and colored lights, oral lesions will become illuminated and detection more assured.
